Ashley learns to value her skills as Path to Employment mentee

Ashley discovered DFSA in the Summer of 2022 while she was employed at a local restaurant. She felt her current position was financially limiting and was looking to improve her resume and pursue better employment. Ashley’s introduction to DFSA was through a virtual image consultation, where she learned more about the services we offer and decided to enroll in our Path to Employment mentorship program.

Ashley entered the program as an eager mentee and was paired with her mentor, Rhiannon. Her goal was to challenge herself throughout the six-week program and come out the other side with all the tools she needed to change industries.

“Rhiannon saw things in me that I couldn’t see in myself,” Ashley said. “If I got frustrated or ‘hit a wall’ mentally, she was there to reassure and guide me. She helped me gain confidence in my ability to tackle projects, overcome issues and stay positive in the face of adversity.”

A few months after the program, Ashley started a new job as a front desk agent at a boutique hotel in Austin and “couldn’t be happier”. Her goal in 2023 is to go back to school to level up her skills and increase her earning potential.

“I don’t sell myself short anymore – in fact, I have started to think of my skills and myself as adding value wherever I am!” Ashley said. “I know that I can attain great things in life if I apply myself and take advantage of opportunities, however big or small.”
