Your Hour, Her Power Spotlight: Elizabeth Loucheur

We’re celebrating Women’s History Month 2022 by highlighting women leaders in our community as part of our Your Hour, Her Power campaign. Our last spotlight is Elizabeth Loucheur, Chief Operating Officer at AlertMedia. Read more about her story below!

Q: How did you get to where you are today and what did that path look like for you?

A: I recently joined AlertMedia as Chief Operating Officer. As part of my role, I’m responsible for helping to drive the company’s growth strategy and scaling operational capabilities across all teams, in addition to developing new services for our global customer base. Before joining AlertMedia, I was Chief Product Officer at Kazoo, an employee experience platform provider, where I led the team through a series of mergers and acquisitions while also completing a complete rebuild of the company’s core product. Before Kazoo, I held several marketing and business development roles, including as brand director of consumer marketing for FOX Sports and senior director of commercial business development for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Looking back on my career journey, nothing feels linear. I said “yes” to the opportunities that came my way, and I attribute much of my success to a combination of luck and hard work. It can be hard to know the next logical step in your career, but it’s important to remember that you’re never stuck. Don’t limit yourself to the options that are expected of you. You can change careers, you can try again, and if you choose wrong, pick yourself up and choose again.

Q: Why do you feel it’s important to have women in leadership roles?

A: For so long, women have been taught that they have to compete for only one seat at the table. The truth is, there is space for everybody at the table. Having more women in leadership positions can help rectify this misconception while creating an environment within organizations that makes it possible to challenge the status quo. Ask yourself, “Why can’t there be another woman at this table?” or “Why can’t half the people at the table be women or people of color?”

As a mother, I’ve also observed that having women in leadership roles can result in more understanding and flexibility in the workplace. For example, working parents with caregiving responsibilities outside of the workplace tend to put a higher priority on benefits like parental leave. Women in leadership roles are living proof that you don’t have to choose between a career and a home life—you can have both.

Q: Why do you feel it's important for women to have access to the resources DFSA provides?

A: When I joined the UFC, I quickly realized I no longer needed the suits I grew accustomed to wearing during my time as a lobbyist in Washington, so I decided to donate them. This is how I first came across Dress For Success and their incredible team. I was so impressed with the resources and services the organization provides that I spent several years volunteering.

Dress for Success empowers women by arming them with the tools they need to succeed. From resume-writing and mock interviews to quality wardrobe options and styling tips, having support during a defining career moment can be incredibly impactful. Walking into an interview feeling confident and comfortable is a game-changer. Fashion can help women feel capable and invincible. To this day, if I am speaking at a conference, I make sure to dress in something that makes me feel strong and ready to conquer the day.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for participating in this year’s campaign and for helping us empower Austin women. If you want to support our Your Hour, Her Power campaign, we’re asking our supporters to donate one hour of their salaries to empower women. Donate here.
