Juliana strives to be the next Longhorn woman in tech
Juliana was searching for somewhere to take a head shot on Google when she came across Dress for Success Austin which led to her visiting our boutique this week. In her senior year at the University of Texas at Austin, Juliana is set to graduate in May 2023 with her Bachelor of Science in Informatics with a concentration in UX/UI design. She’s currently completing a data research internship with Tomorrow’s Leaders Today (TLT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping youth leaders through education, collaboration and mentorships with community and business leaders.
Originally from San Antonio and a second generation college student, Juliana is looking forward to pursuing a career in UX research with her eyes on HEB’s corporate research team. Juliana shares there are not a lot of women in tech and even less Latina women in tech so she’s motivated to do more in this industry especially being that both her parents work in the STEM field: her mom in accounting and her dad in engineering.
Juliana appreciates that she’s attending a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) that values minority students, their culture and their success. This rings true year-round but especially during Hispanic Heritage Month when her heritage is celebrated.
She hopes to show Latina women that they can do anything and that dreams are easier to achieve with hard work and dedication.
